The Living Lab

A few hundred people lived and worked with us in the Living Lab - for weeks, months and years. We renovate, restore and build a lot of things ourselves. And we have initiated and implemented various infrastructure projects for the region. The lab plays a key role in the lively atmosphere of the place.

Startup Lausitz

This network and startup camp based in Cottbuss supports founders (and those who want to become one) to successfully start up businesses in the region through workshops, advice and coaching.

This year we will be holding a founding meeting again.

Citymakers

Citymakers are looking for alternative and creative ways to develop regions and cities in a more ecological and humane way. The transcultural exchange between China and Europe is a particular focus.

The workshop in Drahnsdorf focused particularly on the methodical implementation of one's own approach.

Tiny Farms

Tiny Fams is a Berlin startup that, with its expertise and a concept of minimal, optimized equipment, enables us to grow even on limited space.

Tiny Farms can also take over the marketing. A pilot project is planned in Drahnsdorf in which a local tiny farm will be used so that the people of Drahnsdorf can relax and take better care of themselves.

Lusatian Perspectives

We value this movement and see ourselves as a part of it because it puts the responsibility and participation in shaping regional life in the sense of a participatory and genuine democracy back into the hands of the region and its people.

The “village movement” is also part of it.

Projects for Country and Village

Opportunities that were limited or unavailable in the cities, have now become available in the countryside. Urban and regional strengths can come together to test new ways of working and living together in rural settings. Regional cultures with their strong connection of land & self-sufficiency & healthy living, of village & self-efficacy & vibrant community are an ideal blueprint for alternative, resilient and social lifestyles. We have divided this broad field: “Rethinking the country” into three areas, from which we present an example:

We became aware of how closely Gut and Lab complement each other during the vacancy development project. We have transferred many of our experiences in the collaborative renovation of our own property (e.g. the roof) to the development of other historical and identity-creating buildings.

Nature: Circulatory Systems and Ecology

Circulation systems are based on how “natural” wealth is created in nature. That is why regenerative resources are used in circular systems or a circular economy and the so-called “waste products” are ideally completely recycled. Such a circular system is now in the funding process for Drahnsdorf, and a sustainability center designed as an “Earthship” is also to be created.

Over four weekends, four towns and districts in southern Brandenburg came together to form a new art festival. Charming places, empty barns and colourful meadows become temporary art spaces and are used by regional and international artists.
